Ninja Cat

One fateful day in the Writing Center a tutor was working with a student. As they were working on the reference page of their paper, the student asked the tutor, “Do I need to translate the author’s name if it is in Japanese?” The tutor looked at the name of the author and responded, “Yes, it does need to be translated.” Upon translating the name of the author, the student and tutor found that the author was none other than “Ninja Cat.” From that day hence, Ninja Cats became the Writing Center mascot as an homage to the work and humor that can come out of working on a paper!

During a session, your paper is typically read aloud, either by you or the tutor. This helps to catch errors in mechanics, grammar, flow, and organization. The tutor will pinpoint problem areas and help you to learn how to identify and fix those issues. The tutor may also discuss options for revision. A typical session lasts between 30 and 50 minutes.

If we know that it is a required visit, yes. Typically, we will ask you whether or not your appointment is a required visit. Once they know, they will fill out a form that will send email confirmation of your visit to your instructor. If your instructor did not receive confirmation of your visit, please let us know so we can correct it as soon as possible.
