The Writing Center is a friendly space on campus to get tutored, hang out, and spend time between classes.
We have tutors who are trained to encourage and help you in your writing process, a computer lab with free printing, tables for individual or group work, a seating area for conversation or homework, presentation rooms where you can practice speeches, and a bean bag lounge where you can read, work, or nap. In addition, we have free hot drinks and snacks!
All services and resources are free and available to any writer working on any type of writing project for any purpose. This includes all members of the CC and UW/CC communities, and the larger Casper community as well.
Our purpose is to engage in a conversation and to help you gain a better understanding of writing. We offer assistance at all stages of the writing process — from brainstorming to help with citation to final edits of a full draft.
Be sure to check the Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library website for Google search tips and other helpful information.
Please reach out if you need specific presentations or handouts for your class.

The Casper College Writing Center operates from the belief, first stated by Stephen North, that our goal is to produce better writers, not better writing.
We, therefore, work with writers, not merely on writing. It is our constant effort to engage the writer in conversation, discussion, thought, decision making, and revision that will improve the writer — both at the moment and in the future.
Each writer, each writing situation, and each tutoring occasion is unique. We do not believe that there is a single “correct” or even “best” tutoring approach. Instead, we use a wide variety of techniques to support and guide writers, while constantly adapting our methods to the individual and current context.
We further recognize that different tutors achieve results in many different ways; our goal is to develop as wide a range of tutoring approaches as possible, choosing from among them for each individual session.
Ultimately, all writers who come to the Writing Center must take individual responsibility for their active engagement with both the processes and products of the writing situations they face.
